Book "Reviews" in 12 Words or Less!

I don't know what type of book I need to read right now.  Everything just seems so boring and cliche.

I'm tired of love triangles, angst and misunderstandings!

Hi everyone and welcome to my first attempt "reviewing" books!

I use quotes around the word review because I will not be writing long, insightful and beautifully written essays. I will also not be searching the internet for that perfect gif that encapsulates the feelings generated by the book. Lastly, I will not be digging through countless google searches finding super-hot-6-pack-abs hero and gorgeous-perfect-hair heroine images.

I love reading but I absolutely abhor writing and I just plain old suck at it.  Therefore, I'm not going to bother emulating those that actually write legitimate reviews because I have no doubt that it would be an embarrassing failure.

I AM, however, going to use 12 words or less to describe each book I've read and the feelings it generated for me (when necessary, I reserve the right to hyphenate words to create awesome longer words).

Feel free to add your own words in the comments!

Enjoy!

Gooseberry Bluff Community College of Magic: The Thirteenth Rib - David J. Schwartz This book was just alright for me. I had a hard time getting into it because of the whole "kindle serial" concept. I ended up reading the first third and then waited a month or so until all of the episodes had been released before finishing it up.
Also, I am not a huge fan of books with multiple character POVs so it just seemed jumpy to me since it bounced around between at lease three characters each chapter. It got to the point where I didn't even know (or care) what was going on because everyone had their own sub plots going on.

With all that said, the writing style was decent and there weren't any noticeable typos. That's usually all I really need to not completely dislike a book!
Blank Slate - Tiffany Snow This was a pretty solid romantic suspense novel. The plot was well thought out and there weren't any times where I was dreadfully bored with it. Yes, it isn't entirely unique (there have been quite a few amnesia stories lately) but I still enjoyed it for a quick and easy read.

My only real gripe is that I wished that Clarissa would have accepted Erik's love earlier in the story. I always feel like I missed out on some good (non-angsty) emotions when the hero and heroine don't truly become "happily in love" until the last 10 or so pages. I sometimes like the actual love more than the falling it takes to get there!!

The Wedding Blitz (Foolish Games, #3) - Leah Spiegel, Megan Summers I agree with some of the other reviews that have been posted. This book seemed more like an epilogue than a full length novel. The only real conflict lasted about three chapters midway through and then everything was all hunky dory until the end.

I also really missed the "Rock Star" aspect that was so prevalent in the first part of the series. I loved Hawkins in the first two books because he was chock-full of witty comebacks, brooding stares and heartfelt serenades mid-concert. That is what drew me to the series in the first place and it was almost non-existant here. Without it, the story fell extremely flat for me.
Time Out (Foolish Games, #2) - Leah Spiegel, Megan Summers This review focuses on the first two books in the Foolish Games series. I ended up reading all three books in one day so it all blends together for me.

I really wanted to love this series and if it weren't for Hawkins (our hero) I probably would have given up partway through.

I always love rock star books and that is what originally grabbed my attention in the first place. I was also intrigued with the "marketing scam" part of the first book where Joie and Hawkins snarkily blog and tweet back and forth. This created some pretty amusing interactions that were the highlights of the whole series for me.

Unfortunately, those few good moments were not nearly enough to overlook everything else. There were numerous typos (ridged does NOT equal rigid!) and I just could not handle how unrealistic the characters were in their reactions to very serious events. Yeah sure, I don't like it when characters mope and moan for chapters on end about a hang-nail. However, I think that a little post-trauma-drama is allowed when the situation calls for it. I was officially fed up with this whole series when Gwen apologized to Joie for being the sole reason that she was abducted and tortured via water boarding. Joie's response..... "It's okay". No. It is most definitely not "okay". Joie, you were tortured 4 pages ago, you need to be in therapy!
